Bhoot part 1 is the story of a man facing a scary situation while fighting the horrors of his past. The year is 2012. Prithvi is a widower who has lost his wife Sapna and daughter Megha in a freak accident. He is depressed and is avoiding his medications. In the midst of all this an abounded ship named Sea Bird gets stranded at Mumbai's Juhu beach. Prithvi works for a shipping company that is asked to take this ship back to sea at the earliest. On his first visit to the ship, strange things occur and it make him feel that the ship is inhabited.
However he passes it off as his hallucinations and side effect of his state of mind. The subsequent visits however make him sure that all this is not a figment of his imagination. During the third visit he spotted a girl at the hull of the ship. He also comes across the log books and some video tapes dating back to the year 2001. As he sees the tape he realizes that the captain's wife and daughter Meera were also present on the ship. Gradually he realizes that the girl he encountered on the ship is Meera. He goes again to the ship and this time he comes face to face with Meera. But this time, she's in a ghostly avatar. What happens next forms rest of the film.

After a long time Bollywood has come up with yet another horror film. The film has a good story line, good actors, sound, visual effects the list can go on. Kudos to Dharma for producing in horror genre.A big shout out for Vicky Kaushal for his amazing performance. Generally, the horror films have a few hallmarks to effectively scare its audience. These include well-timed jumpscares, an alarming background score, believable computer graphics (CGI) and make-up (wherever required) that makes the characters look genuinely scary. But the make-up here ends up making the characters look unintentionally funny, rather than scary. The film manages to throw in a few terrifying moments while keeping the background score subtle. The CGI often gives away even as the cinematography is consistently dark to create the eerie atmospherics. But all of this is in service of a story that doesn’t stay afloat for long. While the film’s runtime is short, the pace seems exhausting because most of the scenes are concluded abruptly, leaving you waiting for the big reveal. However, the all-important backstory isn’t convincing enough to make your wait worth it. For a horror film, ‘Bhoot Part One the Haunted Ship’ falls short of sending chills down your spine. At best, it can give you a few spooks.

Vicky Kaushal's film is a superficial take on trauma and tragedy. An enormous abandoned and possibly haunted ship is a perfect setting for an unarmed lone ranger to encounter ghosts – both his own and others. The production design, cinematography, lighting create an eerie atmosphere while the sound design both builds and prepares you for the scares. All cast members are well played.

Bhoot: The Haunted Ship floats along fine up until the interval before gently sinking. The attempt to enhance the premise with extra layers and characters doesn’t yield very much besides taking the attention away from Kaushal. The set-up is promising, as are the atmospherics, but the Seabird’s mysteries turn out to be more banal than intended. The absence of a strongly plotted emotional undertow to convey the idea that personal loss can lead to a never-ending nightmare of literally monstrous proportions results in a half-full vessel that makes some noise.

At first look, Bhoot looks like it could have been made so well with a ship as the backdrop, but then as the story unfolds, you see the growing madness and ridiculous elements that look like they were borrowed from all the horror movies put together. It's those tropes all over again: jumpscares when you are almost expecting them, a backstory that is supposed to tug at your heartstrings, a spirit with lots of inconsistency in form and character, and superficial scientific morals. There are a few shots involving the abandoned ship that are the only positives I found in Bhoot which should answer the question about Kaushal's sleep-walking performance and the near funny characterisation of Ashutosh Rana.

Is this ambitiously titled Bhoot—Part One: The Haunted Ship one of them? I'm afraid not. Although it's got all the accoutrements that you ordinarily associate with horror, so all genre boxes checked alright — creaking door, eerie doll, sound going ballistic on occasion, besides a space that's horrendously haunted. Vicky Kaushal plays that dare-devil. Actually he's not even the only doubter in this film. Even his best buddy is one of them. They work in the shipping industry. What does a ship have to do with ghosts? Well, if you consider a 2011 news-item, about a 9000-tonne cargo ship MV Wisdom, whose engine had failed, and then it drifted and ran aground on Mumbai's Juhu beach, you'll know exactly where the idea for this film came from. Eventually, everything boils down to two or three quick scenes — with top-notch sound and production design — where you can hear audiences laugh. And that's a great news. Those are nervous laughs. Nobody laughs at a horror film. Ever. The loudest ones are in fact the biggest believers. Or even if intimate, you only wish this was a higher stakes' game, though. The wrecked ship is called Sea Bird. That's also the name of my building, where I'm going to be sleeping alone tonight. Am I feeling scared? Nope. Unless, of course, I speak too soon!

This film is a repulsiveness in itself with a bombed course, defective screenplay and totally failing panics. This is a run of the mill mushy bollywood blood and gore movie. The story has such a lot of potential and with such outstanding entertainers part of this venture, it ought to have hit the correct notes yet flops hopelessly. Vicky Kaushal is at his closest to perfect yet even he can't spare this boat from sinking. This can scarcely alarm the faintest of hearts, the unfilled auditoriums are a proof for that! Bollywood ought to either procure better executives and content authors and on the off chance that they don't do it, they should not make any films of this sort... this is an affront to ghastliness filmmaking... it successfully takes forward the chain of trash repulsiveness filmmaking of Bollywood

Its a nice movie. I liked it very much. Vicky kaushal as always has been amazing with his acting which is a good reason to watch the movie. The dark effects given to are mind blowing. It has a lot of jump scares which are really terrifying. I don't understand why people troll this movie. It has a wonderful story line with creative plot twists.

Vicky Kaushal, as usual, is at the top of his game and he lets the audience in on the palpable fear he experiences aided by some brilliant cinematography work. We almost feel the guilt he undergoes in not being able to come to the aid of his wife and kid.Though not fair to compare with the earlier one of Ram Gopal Varma, which set new benchmarks for the horror genre, director Bhanu has stuck to the basics faithfully. In bringing out the feelings of a loner, still to overcome the guilt of an unsavoury past, Bhanu is in home territory, with the promise of a better outing in his next.

Vicky Kaushal's acting is amazing as always. Hate to say that ending could get better otherwise it's a well directed movie. Cinematography and background score is damn good. First half was very very well played. But the second half was slightly disturbed with the old Orthodox bollywood masala.Still better as no unnecessary music etc were used.Sound effects needs praise.Acting was precise too.Overall a good effort for Bollywood horror, better than the recent horrors.Hope upcoming films are more better.

'Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship' is a middling average horror film which never realizes its full potential. A story with extraordinary potential yet is wasted by languid screenplay in the subsequent half. Exhibitions are acceptable all round and vicky Kaushal gets everyone's attention of course. A scary involvement with a great foundation music yet with numerous defects. The exhibitions also dazzle us with only some truly spooky scenes and a sort of a trial film which is acceptable to encounter an extraordinary compared to other first half one has ever observed. Screenplay gets praise and the sets were great and reasonable.

Vicky Kaushal drives the entire film with his amazing performance. The movie with an emotional backdrop has an easy and obvious screenplay..The first half is good and sets you in a mood for getting frightened but later in the second half goes a little drag..After watching Bhoot Part one obviously there is no anticipation reserved for Part 2. Jako rakhe ashutosh rana maar sake na koi – The same that we saw in Raaz is the same here - who helps Vicky overcome the Bhoot Phenomenon. There is this Mantra Jaap at the end done by Ashu which was also earlier shown in 1920 showing Hanuman Chalisa.

This movie will not stand upto your expectations. Movie is okay but can't be consider as a must watch horror movie, it's a one time watch. I'll be very honest, no doubt I'm a Vicky kaushal fan and again liked his acting in movie "Bhoot- The haunted ship". The bgm, visuals effects, sound effects and cinematography is amazing. Just few minutes ago from the interval, the movie indulges a strong bond with the audience, 1st half is really good and your heart beat may get fasten in few scenes, but after the interval movie isn't scary at all. At some point of time you'll start getting bore and will curse the poor story line in second half. The makeup in second half of the ghost look so over the hype and you'll start laughing by seeing his face. On one side the ghost in first half is creepy and will scare you and vice versa will happen in the second half, they just made it so dramatic. I'll give it 3/5 stars and if you're a Vicky kaushal fan then you should watch this movie in theatre because his acting will not disappoint you. After climax the movie gives a hint about the continuation of story for the second part. You may leave the theatre with mix emotions, I appreciate the hardwork of whole team but Dharma again added a typical Bollywood masala in this horror ride, "Teasers" had a very typical tagline, "Go and watch at your own risk".

Vicky Kaushal tried too hard to save this film from being a disaster. For an indie horror movie, the first half was good and had all the integrediants we expect and it's the second half which gone lacklustre. The conflict established in first half was brilliant and writing was impressive but second half was almost simillar to many Hollywood horror movies like the ghost possessing the dolls etc...and the jumpscare moments etc. Climax was underwhelming. Apart from Vicky kaushal, the camera department work was brilliant and should be appreciated. Highly disappointed and wait for OTT release. Not Recommended.

#Bhoot is a decent film. 1st half is good. 2nd half disappoints. Superb story but writing and direction spoils the fun. Good BGM & Acting. After a point horror scenes falls flat, though some scene were exceptional! Running time could have easily been shorten. It Fails to live up to its title... a strong storyline but Weak writing. Unconvincing script vickykaushal delivers a great performance. Rest all supporting actors are clueless. It is very ordinary film. Nothing to shout about. Weak & incoherent writing. A few scary & interesting moments in the 1st half but becomes clichéd in the 2nd half. Climax too is not impactful! VickyKaushal is the only saving grace.

if you are expecting a spine chilling horror movie then this isn't a movie that you are expecting. Bhoot starts off really interesting and the conflict that they explored in the first half was really interesting and the scenes that were written based on the hallucinations that hero is having was really interesting and a new concept in horror movies that no on explored so far. first half of the film had all the ingredients that you expect from a horror film but it's the second half which ruined the experience. Instead of a conflict, director relied heavily on jump-scare moments. and the screenplay is boring and the entire plot became lacklustre. should appreciate the camera and music department for their brilliant work. for an indie horror film setting up the mood was really important and the camera department did that brilliantly. and ofcourse forgot to mention about the art department. the ship set was good and looks real though. Vicky Kaushal is brilliant and he tried his best to save the film in the second half but all the efforts were ruined by the weak plot and terrible screenplay. overall not a bad film not a good film either. wait for the OTT release and watch.

The movie did not reach up to our expectations at all. We expected that the curiosity that was created by Vicky Kaushal through his insta posts about his film in which he revealed that the film is going to be one of the most haunted films of bollywood but I think that all of this was totally vague. We have had much better horror movies in bollywood. Yes, the acting of every actor was spectaculor but the plot was vague. The direction could have been better. The music did not create an eerie atmosphere. Everything else in the movie was abysmal but Vicky Kaushal's acting was wonderful.

It's an indian horror movie, if you like Hollywood horror than this movie is not for you. Vicky kaushal has done a fantastic Job. Apart from his performance no one else has given any important role on screen. Instead of horror this become mystery movie. Director has just used background sound to scare but it won't succeed. Climax scene is also short and can't scare you again. If you like Vicky kaushal than you should watch this movie.

The story is what was expected from title itself. Only liked vicky kaushal's role and acting. Meher( secret superstar mom) had zero acting skills and she seemed smiling even in sad/horror scenes !! Bhumi and ashutosh rana had guest appearances. It was a dry story with quite flaws like how come the blue tshirt boy's corpse was in ship when the same was shown on beach. The ending is very stupid as the hero takes the ghostly girl with him leaving behind his friends .

Honestly this movie is not much exciting in terms of the horrifying experience. But the characters that are involved in this movie keep you in touch till the end. No doubt about Vicky Kaushal & Ashutosh Rana proving their strong acting. I would also say that the makers are trying to showcase only 10% of the script in its part one & almost the remaining could be showcased in the second one. The film also keeps you questioning at every moment of the scene. You will again start thinking and feel confused that each one characters has no link or specific relations with the other characters been played.

Based on a true incident, the film begins with a chilling scene. As the film proceeds, debutant writer-director Bhanu Pratap Singh begins to tease us with flashes of the incident that led to Sea Bird becoming the dreaded haunted ship. He juxtaposes this with Prithvi’s poignant past. Solving Sea Bird’s mystery deaths gives Prithvi’s life a sense of purpose. Vicky Kaushal carries his character’s guilt and his new found mission with utmost honesty. The actor manages to deliver consistently despite a repetitive screenplay that puts him in the exact same situation, many times over. Bhumi Pednekar as Prithvi’s wife puts in a brief special appearance, while Ashutosh Rana’s character is too casually written to be taken seriously. Rana plays the learned professor Joshi, who moves around with what looks like an old voltmeter to chase away the ghost. When that fails, he even ends up chanting mantras. Generally, the horror films have a few hallmarks to effectively scare its audience. These include well-timed jumpscares, an alarming background score, belevable computer graphics and make-up that makes the characters look genuinely scary. But the make-up here ends up making the characters look unintentionally funny, rather than scary. The film manages to throw in a few terrifying moments while keeping the background score subtle. Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship is about a haunted ship, as the name suggests, which reaches Mumbai's shores unannounced. What Is strange is that it has no one on board... at least not the ones you can see without skipping a heartbeat. Prithvi (Vicky Kaushal) and his friend Riaz (Akash Dhar) are in charge of setting the ship on sail as soon as possible. Prithvi, who is battling his own demons and hallucinating about his dead family, witnesses hauntings in the ship and decides to dig deeper. Whether it is his hallucinations guiding him or there is something sinister lurking in the ship is something you need to find out on your own. Bhoot Part One has the humongous task of making people believe that Karan Johar can scare people. After a mediocre attempt with Netflix's Ghost Stories, this is supposed to be his redemption. Well, it succeeds in parts, as the jump scares are totally worth it. They aren't original, but definitely shake you. You will want to stay away from snapping your fingers for a while after watching this movie! The first half keeps you on the edge of your seat. Unfortunately, the second half comes crashing down. The twist definitely gets your attention and would make you rack your brains as to how it can be possible. What also helps is that the film gets to the point almost immediately and does not meander. I would like to give it an extra point for not resorting to sex (Vikram Bhatt, you can continue with Horrex, no contest there) or comedy (Stree wins) to lure audiences to the theatre.

BHOOT-THE HAUNTED SHIP Terrific 1st half ... Slightly Dragged 2nd Half but Overall a One Time Watch 2.5 Star Firstly there is no anticipation reserved for Part 2 ,to start off the movie stands out for its making, natural transition ,Great camera work, background score and overall concept tha'ts not typical stereotype like the usual bollywood horror flicks . What fails for the movie is a weak screenplay specially in the 2nd half which drags with slow pace and very less scare or horror sequences. More concentration goes on Drama , the film picks up towards the end and ends in a newer way than we usually see in bollywood films, even the actors have done a great job. For the Bollywood standards this is a different kind of horror film which can be watched once in the cinemas. THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR >A naturally flowing story line that is simplistic >Camera Work and Background Score is commendable >Actors specially Vicky Kaushal drives the film with his amazing performance >Climax sequence is well presented unlike the typicl films in bollywood >Grapics and transitions are upto the mark and sync up well during horror sequences NEGATIVES >Drama is more concentrated in the 2nd half more than the horror part which derails the film to an extent >The pace of the movie is quite slow which could be an problem for audience to be glued to this film with intrest >The movie titled Bhoot The haunted Ship part 1 has no anticpation towards the end for Part 2 >The Screenplay could have been far better FINAL VERDICT With all the flaws and shortcomings the film still manages to be decently stand out in horror genre atleast for the bollywood scale - the effort needs to be appreciated . Its a one time watch !

This movie is technically quite first-rate and manages to give the chills to viewers. Director does a fine job in creating a scary atmosphere. The idea of a haunted ship is quite unique for Bollywood and that also goes in its favor. A few developments in the story are unpredictable and that keeps the interest going. On the flip side, logic takes a backseat in several scenes. There are too many mistakes and till the very end, some of the questions remain unanswered. Few scenes are cliched and is reminiscent of the horror films of 80s and 90s. Vicky Khaushal is quite good as always and doesn't go overboard. Bhumi Pednekar is lovely in a special appearance. Ashutosh Rana reminds one of his past performance and though he does well, the director doesn't do justice to his character. Akash Dhar as Riyaz is fine initially but later becomes victim of unintentional humor. Meher Vij is a surprise of the film and is someone to watch out for. All in all, film is strictly an average fare on account of it's unconvincing and weak script and direction.

I think this is one of the best hindi horror movies I watched in the recent times. Starring Vicky Koushal, Bhumi Phedniker, Ashutosh Rana Directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh.. Movie has a good story line and great visuals along with fantastic BGM score. Coming to stars performances ,Vicky did not disappoint us. You will love him in his depressed father role who lost his family and goes through a lot of traumas. Bhumi, in her guest role did quite a decent job. Rest of casts have done their parts quite satisfactorily. You will go through quite a few spooky rollercoaster experiences. You will also get goosebumps as I had too. I would recommend you to, watch and experience a real horror and a genuinely made movie.

Director Bhanu Pratap Singh brings this horror thriller to the audience nicely. The movie is Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship. The presentation is pretty good in this movie, but since I don't like this ghost movie, the story is quite exciting. The story is about the story of a man who struggles with horror in his past and experiences horrible situations. Choreography of the movie is quite like it. Music is not very memorable. My rating: Plot - 2.5/5 Soundtrack - 2/5 Characters - 2/5 Directions - 2/5

The premise of the movie was very promising and could have lead to many horror avenues. The first half is engaging and has a few jump scares to keep you hooked. The story as well, up to that point is intriguing, however the second half , as with most indian horror movies is where the story starts to fizzle. It is the cliched indian horror movie story arc, where the "ghost" is humanized and given a traumatic backstory where even though you are supposed to be scared of it, you start sympathizing with it. Which ruins the build up and all the scares, I dont think bollywood has figured out that fear is complimented by mystery, humans are inherently scared of things they dont understand. So when you give the ghost a name and a backstory , it ruins the entire plot There are a few good jump scares and a good backstory given to the protagonist and how he is dealing with is internal conflict but the ending is just too 2002 and "fear file"inspired, that you can predict the ending around 40 minutes before it happens. The special effects didnt help either, it's not too bad but comical towards the end. All in all , a story with great potential but is squandered by lazy writing in the second half. Performances are good all round and vicky Kaushal steals the show as usual. Will give it a 4 star rating, it would have been a great horro tv show episode at best.

I just feel Dharma and Karan Johar are getting desperate. Money is dictating their choices and the losses of Kalank and Drive are weighing them. Admirable to go the horror route, but when your oeuvre is romance, horror is best left to the experts. A miss.

Very intersting story line. Vicky kaushal has done a fabulous job. The screen play, visual effects, background score and all other things are perfectly well put in. In first scene, horror pop out in most of the scenes and you will surely make you curious. Second half is little slow. Climax could have been little better. Overall worth a watch film. Justice to bollywood horror film!

Bhoot was just a horrible movie. There is no thrill throughout the film. The introduction scene was good and some what interesting. Remaining film is just dull and very boring. Entire story goes on in a ship but there is no thrill or story. Screenplay is not upto the mark and mediocre music makes this film a DISASTER.
